- Putting a casualty in the recovery position

- Using adrenaline auto-injectors

First Aid Response RQF
5 day Course, 0900 – 1700 32 to 40 hours
Topics include:
- Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
- Assessing an emergency situation safely
- CPR and AED
- Administering first aid to choking casualty
- Dealing with shock, burns, scalds, bleeds
- Minor injuries
- Dealing with sudden poisoning or anaphylaxis
- Dealing with fractures, and spinal, head or chest injuries
- Dealing with heart attacks, strokes and other major illnesses

Emergency Care For First Responders
5 day Course, 0900 – 1700
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of first responders
- Assess an incident and conduct casualty surveys
- Manage an unresponsive casualty
- Administer therapeutic oxygen therapy
- Understand when to administer nitrous oxide in line with the first responder’s scope of practice
- Safely handle medical gas cylinders
- Recognise and manage a compromised airway
- Administer first aid to a casualty with external and catastrophic bleeding
- Be able to recognise and manage a casualty who is in shock
- Recognise and manage a casualty with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints
- Recognise and manage a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
- Be able to recognise and manage a casualty with suspected chest injury
- Understand how to administer first aid to a casualty with minor injuries
- Provide first aid to a casualty with
sudden poisoning - Deal with medical emergencies
or major illness - Assist with transfer of casualties
